Description
An aromatic fruit, which originated in Asia, it is now grown in the hot, damp climates of tropical and sub-tropical countries.It is normally tall and fairly sturdy they are often mistaken for trees . The banana fruit grow in hanging clusters .The plant contains about 37pc of dry matter . growing parts of the plant contain much tannic and gallic acids. Sound ripe fruit contains 22 p.c. of sugar ,16 p.c., being crystalizable. After it has quite ripe there is portionare diminution in crystallizable sugar and increas in inverted sugar. An over ripe fruit contain only 2.8. p.c. of crystallizable and 11.84 p.c. of uncrystallizable sugar being total of 11.64 p.c. or 2/3 of the original quantity. There are rich source of the vitamin B6, vitamin C, and potassium. Banana is rich in vitamin capable of preventing and curing diseases dur to vitamin A deficiency and less extent ot at any rate more slowly the vitamins in the banana promote growth. Ash of the husk of ripe fruit contains carbonates of potash and soda chloride of potassium alkaline phsphated with a little sulphates ,lime, silica earthy phosphates etc. Juice of the tender roots contains much of tannin. .It is good sources of calories being richer in solids and lower in water content than other fresh fruits and is a good sources of quick energy owing to its high content of easily assimilable sugars .Banana contributes to the diet significant amounts minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phophorous, iron, copper etc. Green banana contain large amounts of tannin .Banana dessert , toast,baked banana ,syrup etc are the various forms in which this valuable fruit is used for eating
Uses
The fresh rhizomes is useful in dysuria, polyuris and menstrual disorders . The flowers is asthma, bleeding disorders, vaginal discharges and leucorrhoea. Unripe one is cooling and astringent and inthe dried state it is antiscorbutic.The root is antibilious and anthelmintic and valuable alternative . Juice of the plant is styptic. It is useful for urinary disorders .Its value as a regulator of gastro intestinal functions may be in part due to these properties. It is to stimulate the production of hemoglobin. The flowers are astriagent. It is nourishing food. Unripe fruit is also useful as a valuable article of diet and used as vegetable especially for those suffering from haemoptysis ans diabetes and diarrhoea. Ripe fruit is also used as a vegetables. Ripe fruit is also useful for anaemic patient . It is also useful in dysentery . Ash produced by burning the plant contain potash salts and they are useful for acidity, heart burn,and colic. Ripe banana is emollient , demulent and nutrient. The leaves are useful for wounds, cuts, bleeding , swelling, ulcers , itching, eczema etc .The green leaves are beneficial for eye disorders.such as inflammation, swelling , itching , redness etc. The root is helpful in bronchocele and strumous affections.
How to Use in Different Diseases
A slightly gruel made of banana flour mixed with mild is a nice and easily digestible of diet in gastrites combined with milk the banana produces an almost completely balanced ration providing both antiscorbutic and other vitamins . Juice of the this herb is useful in dyspepsia.Syrup of banana is popular in america for producing a refreshing beverage and as an effectual remedy in relieving bronchitis such as cough, cold, asthma and other chest infections. A banana is well wahed may be given mixed with four ounces of mil three times daily sprue, diarrhoea and scurvy and soup is also useful in same purpose. Juice of stem is useful in otalgia and haemoptysis. Juice of the root is useful in gonorrhoes. Juice of the flowers mixed with curd is recommnend in menstrual disorders such as dysmenorrhoea and menorrhagia. Juice of the bark is to treating overdose of opium.
