Description
Also known as whortleberry, this small perennial plant grows wild in the poor soil of sandy areas and moors and both its berries, which are black, and its leaves can be used for medicinal purposes. It is found in Northern Europe, Northern America, and Canada. The main constituent of the bilberry fruit are anthocyanosides 0.5%.Other constituent include tannins, hydroxycinnamic and hydroxybenzoic acids, flavonol glycosides , flavan-3-ols,iridois,terpenes,pectins and organic plant acid. It can grownup to 16 Inches tall. The flowers are pink-white colors with oval shaped leaves. They search harmful particles in the body known as gratis radicals, serving to stop or reverse harm to cells. It is rich source of Vitamin C.
Uses
This herb is useful in eye complaints such as Eye strain / visual acuity, Dark adaptation, Day and night blindness. Fruit in non specific, acute diarrhea , mild in inflammation of the mucous membranes of he mouth and throat, anthocyanine enriched extracts of the fruit in symptomatic treatment of problems related to varicose veins such as heavy legs. Cranberry is used in urinary incontinence and for UTI prevention. The leaves are useful for diabetes. The fruit is very beneficial for wounds, cuts, swelling etc and to help people with diarrhea by reducing intestinal inflammation. This herb is useful in urinary tract problems, arthritis, gout, skin problems, and declining vision. It also useful in diabetes, stomach problems. The leaves are helpful in piles, dermatitis and other skin complaints
How to Use in Different Diseases
As a tea is useful for stomach problems and calm the digestive tract, in particular the action of diarrhea and for the release of nausea and indigestion.
