Description

A perennial plant which grows wild in hedges and along fences; both its roots and clustered flower heads can be used for medicinal purposes It can grow up to half meter in tall . The flowers are yellow in colors , strong fragrance, hermaphrodite with pollinated by Flies. The leaves are dark green colors, short-petioled with kidney shaped. Chinese is given this herb for inflammation and internally bleeding piles. Taste of root and stem is bitter with a slight smell like camphore . It contain an aromatic oil, a colouring principle and an alkaloid . The simple leaves are alternate and cordate, membranous, growing on leaf stalks. There are no stipules. The plant contains a compound of acids so called “aristolochic acids” which arouse white blood cell action and speeds the curative of wounds if it is used in correct concentration. It is very toxic herb. Plant with elevated scent. Poisonous plant cultivated as a therapeutic plant, used beside gout and rheumatism. Its roots have oleaginous property. The ancient Egyptians used the plant as a remedy for snake bite, and infusions of the roots have traditionally been used to heal ulcers and also to arrest tumours in animals

Uses

The fruit is useful for cough, cold, asthma, tuberculosis , and other chest infections etc. This plant is useful to promote the uterine contraction during delivery.It is very beneficial in insect bites for example snake bites etc. The whole plant is also useful in stomach troubles and menstrual disorders such as painful menses etc.The herbalist is given this plant for many diseases such as stimulates the uterus, reduces inflammation, controls bacterial infections and promotes healing. It is also very beneficial to increase immunity systems. The whole plant is useful in liver disorders such jaundice, bile complaints , appetite, and infections and dermatosis.Leaves are stomachic, tonic, and antiperiodic . Root is valuable antidote to snake bite and to bites of poisonous insects as scorpion etc it is used both externally and internally it makes the part bittern insensible to the ill effects of the poison.

How to Use in Different Diseases

Decoction of this plant is useful in wounds, cuts, bleeding and soreness and ulcers such as leg ulcers . It should be taken one to two teaspoonfuls twice a day at meal times. This herb is useful in externally purposes such as wounds, cuts, inflammation, itching, eczema, infected toe and finger nails etc. The tincture is useful in wounds, cuts, scars, eczema, itching, swelling , infected wounds , toe and fingers. Rubbed with honey it is given in whit leprosy it is also useful in dropsy. Decoction of the root and stem is stimulate , tonic and febrifuge .Juice of the leaves as also of the bark is mainly used in the bowel complaints of children ,cholera, and diarrhea and intermittent fever. Fresh juice of the leaves is a favorite antidote to bites of poisonous snakes . Root has been used for criminal abortion. In addition, infusions of the root and flowers will stimulate perspiration, act as a diuretic, reduce fever, and stimulate delayed menstruation.
